How to Make Your Bullet Journal Feel More Like "You" With This Easy Customization Tool
Your journal should be the perfect space to completely be yourself and to express yourself however you want.
Sometimes looking at a blank page can feel kind of daunting. But the solution is just to go for it. A journal is meant to be written in and loved by you.
And the best way for your journal to feel more like you? Sticking some stickers down. Only you can come up with the completely unique combination and placement of stickers in your journal. It can help you express yourself creatively, even if you don’t have any drawing ability.
As a consequence, if you love your journal, you’re more likely to use your journal. And if you’re using your journal more, it’s like leveling up when it comes to reflection and mindfulness.

Personalizing Your Bullet Journal
There are tons of ways you can make your bullet journal personalized.
One way is already done by the time you’re ready to write in your journal. Yup, just by picking out your journal, you’ve already made a step in the direction of personalizing it.
Many people like to use stickers on the cover, especially if it’s cardboard cover or vegan leather cover. Just be careful of what stickers you place on the cover since some stickers are meant for low-traffic areas (like most of the ones here at Tablet & Quill), while others have a protective laminate to help keep it safe in high-traffic areas (like some of the die cuts here at Tablet & Quill).
Another easy way to make your journal yours is to make some choices about what colors you’re using. Whether you want to stick to a color palette for the whole journal or just a page, it’s completely up to you!
While I mentioned stickers on a cover of a journal, using stickers inside your journal is a surefire way to personalize and customize it. You get to pick the stickers you want to use, how they match (if at all), and where you want to place them.
It’s the perfect way to make your journal feel more you!
Stickers as a Personalization Tool
Depending on how you plan to use a journal page or spread, there’s a variety of stickers you can use to help personalize your journal.
DIY Color Sticker Sheets
DIY color sticker sheets are stickers that can be peeled away from a sheet. In particular, the DIY color sticker sheets at Tablet & Quill come with at least 31 stickers per sheet and can be colored with water-based markers, highlighters, color pencils, and crayons. DIY color stickers are absolutely perfect for customization and personalization because you get to decide the color palette. Plus, it’s fun to sneak in a mini coloring session with these!

Die Cut Stickers
Die cut stickers are individual stickers that don’t come on a sticker sheet. At Tablet & Quill, themed die cut stickers are larger than the stickers on a sticker sheet and they come in matching sets automatically. These types of stickers are perfect for layering and creating a scrapbook feel while matching to each other.

Functional Stickers
Functional stickers are great if you’re going for a more structured approach, like in a monthly bullet journal spread or a weekly bullet journal spread. In either case, you have to flexibility of creating trackers using mini calendars or number strips or the flexibility of creating weekly journal spreads where you can place the days of the week wherever you want.

A Simple Spread To Start Personalizing Today
Introduce yourself to your journal! Make a page at the beginning of your journal that is an About Me page that lets your journal know what’s to come and who you are. You can also set intentions and include affirmations on this page.
Start by picking either one sticker sheet or a few stickers. Consider if you want them to match by theme, by color, by size, or by something else completely.
Then, pick some colors based off the stickers you already picked. It doesn’t have to match perfectly, complementary colors are opposite and wonderful!
If you’re unsure where to start sticking your stickers, stick them down along an edge of a page and start writing about yourself. Here are some examples of what you can include in y our About page:
- Who you are
- What you do for school or work
- How you fill your time
- About your pets and their personalities
- Your favorite snacks
- Your favorite hobbies
- What shows you like to watch
- What games you like to play
- Who your friends are
- Who your partner(s) is/are
- Where you want to visit
- Places you’ve been to and want to visit again
- What topics you currently find interesting
You can free write on this page, write bullet points, or make little boxes to answer questions in. The spread you come up with will be totally unique and totally you. If you want more guidance, here's an entire blog post dedicated to this spread.
Finding Your Style
The great thing about journals is that it’s a great place for experimentation. You can try out different stickers, different color palettes, different layouts, and you’re not locked into any of it as soon as you turn the page.
It can take some time to find what you like specifically, but it’s worth it to try different styles so you know what you don’t like - that’s important too!
I’d love for you to share how you’ve personalized your journal and if you use stickers to do so. Leave a comment down below or give me a tag! You can find me as TabletAndQuill on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
